As mentioned in "Just Add Water," our goal is to provide you with ingredients that match up with your creativity. In many cases a backdrop will work best if you can already imagine it working well. A perfect example is this backdrop:
At first I thought, “Well, this is a cool looking picture, but I can’t think of how it would work when you add people.” True, it’s sort of looking down from above and I thought it would be difficult to make work from a perspective point of view. But, another photographer had the vision for it when I didn’t. They added bushes in the foreground that really brought the pictures together. This also eliminated the problem of having the subject stand on top of bushes (obviously unrealistic). In the end, the mental vision was combined with the right ingredients (props and backdrops) to pull off a great shot.
